The King is Dead, Long Live the King!

Today would have been Elvis' 73rd birthday.

In my daily scan of the online newspapers I added the Memphis Commercial Appeal to my list.
They didn't have much on the home page except a video of the other Elvis' -- two regular folk who just happened to be named Elvis as well. http://www.commercialappeal.com/videos/detail/being-elvis/

The Las Vegas Review Journal has a sort of interactive map of when Elvis Roamed Vegas -
http://www.lvrj.com/living/13522112.html, and Norm's column lists Elvis related Birthday celebrations, in a piece called "Las Vegas Lets Its Elvis Show" -
http://www.lvrj.com/news/13522192.html Norm mentions that Robert Sillerman's CKX is calling his proposed Las Vegas Elvis themed casino "Park Central" but after checking out a press release I believe that is what the property is currently called -- certainly an Elvis themed resort will have his name attached.

I began to wonder where Elvis' stillborn older twin brother Jesse was buried, and found the answer in this list of Elvis trivia -
http://oldies.about.com/od/elvispresleyhistory/a/elvistrivia.htm (an unmarked pauper's grave in Tupelo)

I also spent time perusing the trivia in general, and clicked on a link to an interview with the guy that produced Elvis' '68 Comeback Special.

So, the king lives on in our hearts and minds, and Elvis is still very much alive. If I run across an Elvis slot today, I'll have to wager in his memory, adding more value to his celebrity.
